Volume 45, Issue 2 Published!

The second issue of the 2017-2018 year, “The Free Speech Issue,” has been published.  This issue details some of today’s most consequential discussions about the First Amendment.  From fake news, to silenced speakers on college campuses around America, to armed protests, the necessity of defending traditional free speech principles has never been greater.  While the idea of protecting the free speech rights of Nazis or white supremacists is abhorrent to most, it is that very value that separates America from much of the world.  As Justice Louis Brandeis most eloquently wrote in Buckley v. Valeo, “sunlight is said to be the best of disinfectants; electric light the most efficient policeman.”  By allowing all in America to express their thoughts (without violence), all are able to better understand their own beliefs and engage in productive discourse.
